Overview

Kenneth McConnell was a Hobart-based psychiatrist killed in a rock climbing accident on Mt Wellington in January 2006. His father, the late Kennedy McConnell, endowed this bursary to support medical students with a passion for the outdoors.

Eligibility

  • Available to a student entering any of the final three years of the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine degree in Semester 1, 2027, and who has a passion for outdoor pursuits and an interest in psychiatry.
  • The scholarship will support a student who:
    • is eligible to undertake a rotation or elective in psychiatry in the M3N course;
    • can demonstrate an interest in psychiatry; and
    • can demonstrate a strong interest in outdoor pursuits.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
